Calm seas, with a nice fleet turnout, highlighted this weeks North Sea Open Regatta. With a fresh breeze of 18 knots out of the southwest, The North Sea regions were well behaved as one DNF (Did Not Finish) was recorded on the day. The loan DNF was attributed to a skipper crashing while crossing over regions corners during the small boat portion. The crowds that gathered on the shores of the islands in the Ziziphus and Genip regions, and along the Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier and small race dock in the Eden Jakana region, relished a thrilling display of fleet racing from this weeks skippers.
This weeks small boat fleet, sailing on the North Sea Copacabana course, was made up of a majority of five Bandit 22 LTEs. Three The Mesh Shop (TMS) Star Class, two sailing single-handed and one sailing crewed respectively, one TMS Nacra 17, and one TMS Sea Boss – Rider rounded out this weeks small boat fleet. Meanwhile, the big boat fleet, sailing on the North Sea CCW (counter-clockwise) course, was made up of a majority of four TMS I-Mocca 60s. Two WildWind Open 60s, one TMS One Design 65, one WildWind RC-44r, and one TMS Ocean Beach rounded out this weeks big boat fleet.
Edit: The results for the big boat portion were incorrectly sorted and have been corrected, as well as the final results. The final first, second, and third place finishers still remain the same.

Jenna (jnx1e Resident) was disqualified (DSQ) during the small boat portion for sailing an incorrect course, missing the last course mark, the blue buoy in the Sapote regoin.
Moon (moonglownight Resident), Emileigh (Emileigh Starbrook), and ViV (vivipezz Resident) all finished tied with 7 points. Rule A8.1 of Appendix A, Scoring, 2021 – 2024 World Sailing Racing Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:
“If there is a series score tie between two or more boats, each boat’s race scores shall be listed in order of best to worst, and at the first point(s) where there is a difference the tie shall be broken in favour of the boat(s) with the best score(s). No excluded scores shall be used.“

North Sea Racing 
I m not sure, but it seems to me that 14m30s is faster than 14m31s and even faster than 14m54s….
Anyway, it was a weird regatta and a weird day for me. First, a disconnect in race 1 had me scramble for my boat and ruined the great effort I have had until then. Yet, that poor run of events for me did lead to an exciting finish vs. Emilie, as I had to chase her after relogging and jumping back on my errant boat.
The start of the Big Boat race is often a bit messy, so I started at the far side of the line, leeward of the fleet. The drawback is that one becomes keep-clear boat after the tack to mark 1 (port boat crossing starboard boats). Unfortunately, I couldn’t keep clear of Zim on the first tack (we all were close to region borders, which didn’t help) so I had to complete a 360 prior to finishing the race to repair my foul. With that cloud over my head, I would still enjoy the race. And it was an exciting and fast race, most of the way: Me vs Jenna vs Moon, especially during the 4th leg to Ziziphus, as we sailed real close to each other at 20+ knots: Thrilling! I eventually pulled ahead, and as I got clear of others, I did my 360 before the finish, watching others pass by.
