Calm seas, with a nice fleet turnout, highlighted this weeks North Sea Bandit Regatta. With a moderate breeze of 15 knots out of the southwest, The North Sea regions were well behaved as two DNFs (Did Not Finish) were recorded on the day. Both DNFs, occurring one a piece in each race, were from skippers crashing as they crossed over region corners. The crowds that gathered at the lighthouses on the islands in the Ziziphus and Genip regions, as well as on the Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier and small race dock in the Eden Jakana region, delighted in a peppy display of fleet racing from this weeks skippers. This weeks fleet, sailing on the North Sea 01 and North Sea 02 courses, was made up of a majority of nine Bandit 22 LTEs. Four Bandit IFs, three sailing single-handed and one crewed respectively, rounded out this weeks Bandit fleet in the first race. In the second race, a Bandit 22 LTE skipper opted to use his Bandit IF instead.

Emileigh (Emileigh Starbrook) and Rugger (ruggeromare Resident) finished tied with 7 points. As they both have duplicate finishes, Rule A8.2 of Appendix A, Scoring, 2021 – 2024 World Sailing Racing Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:
“If a tie still remains between two or more boats, they shall be ranked in order of their scores in the last race. Any remaining ties shall be broken by using the tied boats’ scores in the next-to-last race and so on until all ties are broken. These scores shall be used even if some of them are excluded scores.“
