Calm seas, with a nice fleet turnout, highlighted this weeks Cat Fight in The North Sea. The North Sea regions were well behaved as one DNF (Did Not Finish) was recorded on the day. The only DNF was from a skipper pulling her boat during the first race after realizing she had two conflicting sets of gestures active. The crowds that gathered on the shores of the islands in the Ziziphus and Genip regions, and along the Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier and small race dock in the Eden Jakana region, relished the charged fleet-foiled feline force on display from this weeks skippers. This weeks fleet, sailing on the North Sea Bowline and the North Sea Bowline Reverse courses, was made up of a majority of six The Mesh Shop (TMS) Flying Shadows, five sailing single-handed and one crewed respectively. One WildWind AC-45 rounded out this weeks catamaran fleet in the first race. For the second race, a Flying Shadow skipper opted to switch to his TMS Nacra 17.

Today’s winner was Jenna (jnx1e Resident), with Sin (Sinarielle Resident) second, and Julie (JulieRoyale Resident) in third place. Congratulations to all of you. Thank you to everyone who came to sail and spectate.
Race Notes:
Daenerys (blondij Resident) and Moon (moonglownight Resident) both finished tied with 8 points. Rule A8.1 of Appendix A, Scoring, 2021 – 2024 World Sailing Racing Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:
“If there is a series score tie between two or more boats, each boat’s race scores shall be listed in order of best to worst, and at the first point(s) where there is a difference the tie shall be broken in favour of the boat(s) with the best score(s). No excluded scores shall be used.“
Skipper | Best Finish | Next Best Finish |
blondij Resident | 1 | 7 |
moonglownight Resident | 3 | 5 |
With the race results rearranged in best to worst finish order, per A8.1, the tie breaks in Daenerys’s favor with having a first place finish over Moon’s third place finish as his best.
