Calm seas, with a nice fleet turnout, highlighted this weeks North Sea Open Regatta. The North Sea regions were mostly well behaved as three DNFs (Did Not Finish) were recorded on the day. The first DNF, occurring during the small boat portion, was from a skipper crashing while crossing over region corners. The second DNF, also occurring during the small boat portion, was from a skipper pulling his boat after his crew had other intentions for their time. The third DNF, also from the small boat portion, was from another skipper pulling her boat after her boat’s scripts malfunctioned. The crowds that gathered at the lighthouses on the islands in the Ziziphus and Genip regions, and along the Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier and small race dock in the Eden Jakana region, reveled in a spirited display of fleet racing from this weeks skippers.
This weeks small boat fleet, sailing on the North Sea Bowline course, was made up of a majority of four Bandit 22 LTEs. One The Mesh Shop (TMS) Nacra 17, one TMS Star Class, and one crewed Bandit IF rounded out this weeks small boat fleet. Meanwhile, the big boat fleet, sailing on the North Sea Circle course, was made up of one TMS I-Mocca 60, one TMS One Design 65, one WildWind Open 60, and one WildWind RC-44r.

Race Notes:
Rugger (ruggeromare Resident) was disqualified (DSQ) during the big boat portion for failing to complete a 360° penalty turn as directed by a race director due to a Rule 11 On The Same Tack, Overlapped foul.

Red (RedHeadJO Resident), and Lilita (lilita Cifuentes) both finished tied with 10 points. As they both have the exact same finishes in each race, a DNF (Did Not Finish) during the small boat portion and a DNS (Did Not Start) during the big boat portion, neither Rule A8.1 or A8.2 of Appendix A, Scoring, 2021 – 2024 World Sailing Racing Rules of Sailing will satisfy breaking their tie. Therefore, Red and Lilita remain tied in sixth place overall.
