From the left to the right (in Bandit IFs): Red, Julie, Jack, Darb & Kit, Siri, Moon, and Rugger. Committee boat: Daenerys, and Tamarushka.
The last North Sea Bandit IF regatta for November, 2022, took place on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. We started with seven Bandit IFs. One Bandit IF had crew on board. We had a great start and Rugger took the lead right away. He and Red hit a corner of a region and had to give up. Julie then took a lead and was chased by Moon. Siri and Jack would battle for third place all day. Luckily there were no guns on board :).
In the second race we left with five boats. Julie immediately took the lead again. Siri and Jack chased Moon, but he stayed ahead of them. Towards the end of the match, fate struck for Julie. She lost control of her boat and sailed directly against the huts in the region of Clementine. As a result, Moon and Jack overtook her, but in the end she was still second.
There were two DNFs (Did Not Finish) and no DSQs (Disqualified) through both races and it was another successful and sporty day in The North Sea.
Race Director: Daenerys
Assistant Race Directors: Tarmarushka, and Cryptic
Wind: 265 (W ) 18kts
Wind: 255° (WbS) 18kts
Note:
Did Not Finish (DNF) = number of finish +1
Disqualified (DSQ) = number of finish + number of DNFs + 1
Did Not Start (DNS) = number of start +1
Today’s winners were Moon (Moonglownight Resident), with Julie (JulieRoyale Resident) second, and Jack (Jacquimo Resident) in third place.
Congratulations to all of you. Thank you to everyone who came to sail and spectate.
Race Notes:
Moon (moonglownight Resident) and Julie (JulieRoyale Resident) finished tied with 3 points. As they both have duplicate finishes, Rule A8.2 of Appendix A, Scoring, 2021 – 2024 World Sailing Racing Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:
“If a tie still remains between two or more boats, they shall be ranked in order of their scores in the last race. Any remaining ties shall be broken by using the tied boats’ scores in the next-to-last race and so on until all ties are broken. These scores shall be used even if some of them are excluded scores.“
Skipper | Race 1 | Race 2 |
moonglownight Resident | 2 | 1 |
JulieRoyale Resident | 1 | 2 |
In the last race, Moon breaks the tie with Julei with his first place finish over Julie’s second place finish.
Jack (Jacquimo Resident) and Siri (Sirius Rosca) finished tied with 7 points.
Jacquimo Resident | 4 | 3 |
Sirius Rosca | 3 | 4 |
In the last race, Jack breaks the tie with Siri with his third place finish over Siri’s fourth place finish.
Rugger (ruggeromare Resident) and Red (RedHeadJo Resident) both finished tied with 12 points. As they both have the exact same finishes, DNFs (Did Not Finish) during the first race and DNSs (Did Not Start) for the second race, neither Rule A8.1 or Rule A8.2 of Appendix A, Scoring, 2021 – 2024 World Sailing Racing Rules of Sailing will satisfy breaking their tie. Therefore, Rugger (ruggeromare Resident) and Red (RedHeadJo Resident) both remain tied in sixth place overall.
