A beautiful Saturday afternoon in October. We started with nine Bandit IFs. One of the Bandit IFs had crew on board. One of the skippers missed the start line, another skipper had a very late start. This would then make the first race between seven skippers.

The first race got off to a good start. Seven Bandit IFs entered the fray and Red immediately took the lead. Dunia separated from the fleet to sail on another line to the first buoy. The first tack went almost flawlessly. Red turned first at the buoy. Followed by Siri, Julie was too high on the mark and dropped to fifth, but she immediately gave chase. By the second mark she was already fourth. Siri and Rugger were ahead of her, and Red was already ahead of the fleet. By the fourth mark, Julie was in third position. At the penultimate mark, Emi got unlucky and had to drop out.

At the start of the second race, the RC was pressed for time. Almost the entire fleet rushed to the start. Rugger took the lead, but Julie and Red had a better line to the first mark. Julie turned first, immediately followed by Red, Rugger. Jack had sailed a little too long and lost contact with Julie. Julie returned first at the second mark, followed by Red, Rugger, Emi, Jack, Dunia and Siri. Julie saved her lead over the fleet. And Rugger hooked up with Red. Shortly followed by Emi and Dunia. Jack and Siri were in a close fight. Red wriggled free from Rugger. On the way to the penultimate mark, disaster struck. Four skippers had bad luck (crash) and had to give up.

There were five DNFs (Did Not Finish) and no DSQs (Disqualified) through both races and it was another successful and sporty day in The North Sea.

Race Director: Daenerys
Assistant Race Director: Cryptic
Wind: 220° (SW) 18kts

Note:
Did Not Finish (DNF) = number of finish +1
Disqualified (DSQ) = number of finish + number of DNFs + 1
Did Not Start (DNS) = number of start +1

Today’s winners were Red (RedHeadJO Resident), with Julie (JulieRoyale Resident) second, and Siri (Sirius Rosca) in third place.

Congratulations to all of you. Thank you to everyone who came to sail and spectate.

Race Notes:
Emileigh (Emileigh Starbrook) and Jack (Jacquimo Resident) both finished tied with 11 points. Rule A8.1 of Appendix A, Scoring, 2021 – 2024 World Sailing Racing Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:

If there is a series score tie between two or more boats, each boat’s race scores shall be listed in order of best to worst, and at the first point(s) where there is a difference the tie shall be broken in favour of the boat(s) with the best score(s). No excluded scores shall be used.

Skipper Best Finish Next Best Finish
Emileigh Starbrook 4 7
Jacquimo Resident 5 6

With the race results rearranged in best to worst finish order, per A8.1, the tie breaks in Emileigh’s favor with having a fourth place finish over Jack’s fifth place finish as his best.
