Great sim sailing weather, with a nice fleet turnout, highlighted this weeks Cat Fight in The North Sea. With a fresh breeze of 18 knots out of the southwest, calming down to a moderate breeze of 15 knots during the second race, The North Sea regions were well behaved as no DNFs (Did Not Finish) were recorded on the day. The crowds that gathered on the lighthouse observation deck on the island in the Ziziphus region, and along the Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier and small race dock in the Eden Jakana region, thrilled in the electric fleet-foiled feline frenzy on display from this weeks skippers. This weeks fleet, sailing on the North Sea Bowline Reverse and North Sea Manta courses, was made up of seven The Mesh Shop (TMS) Flying Shadows, five sailing single-handed and two crewed respectively, for the first race. In the second race, one skipper opted for his TMS Nacra 17 instead.

Today’s winner was Daenerys (blondij Resident), with Julie (JulieRoyale Resident) second, and Sin (Sinarielle Resident) in third place. Congratulations to all of you. Thank you to everyone who came to sail and spectate.

Race Notes:
Julie (JulieRoyale Resident) and Moon (moonglownight Resident) both finished the first race tied at the finishing line with a time of 13:07. As their final time also remains tied, as they both sailed the same boat, Rule A7 of Appendix A, Scoring, 2021 – 2024 World Sailing Racing Rules of Sailing is used to score this tie:

If boats are tied at the finishing line or if a handicap or rating system is used and boats have equal corrected times, the points for the place for which the boats have tied and for the place(s) immediately below shall be added together and divided equally. Boats tied for a race prize shall share it or be given equal prizes.

Therefore, both Julie and Moon receive 3.5 points, as the product for the place for which they have tied and for the place immediately below, 3 and 4, added together and divided equally.

Sin (Sinarielle Resident) and Max (Max Starostin) both finished tied with 8 points. Rule A8.1 of Appendix A, Scoring, 2021 – 2024 World Sailing Racing Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:

If there is a series score tie between two or more boats, each boat’s race scores shall be listed in order of best to worst, and at the first point(s) where there is a difference the tie shall be broken in favour of the boat(s) with the best score(s). No excluded scores shall be used.

Skipper Best Finish Next Best Finish
Sinarielle Resident 2 6
Max Starostin 3 5

With the race results rearranged in best to worst finish order, per A8.1, the tie breaks in Sin’s favor with having a second place finish over Max’s third place finish as his best.
