Another week of calm seas, with a nice fleet turnout, highlighted the last North Sea Bandit Regatta for August, 2022. With a gentle breeze of 8 knots out of the southwest, building to a moderate breeze of 11 knots during the second race, The North Sea regions were generally well behaved as three DNFs (Did Not Finish) were recorded on the day. The first DNF was due to a skipper pulling her boat during the first race, after an incident were another boat fouled her into a course mark. The remaining two DNFs happened during the second race, as two skippers crashed as they crossed over region corners. The crowds that gathered on the lighthouse observation deck on the island in the Ziziphus region, as well as on the Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier and small race dock in the Eden Jakana region, were thrilled by a great display of fleet racing from this weeks skippers. This weeks fleet, sailing on North Sea Olympic Course (Short) and a two lap affair on the North Sea Short Loop course, was made up of a majority of seven Bandit 22 LTEs. Three Bandit IFs, two sailing single-handed and one crewed respectively, rounded out this weeks Bandit fleet in the first race. A late arriving skipper joined the second race with their Bandit 22, while a Bandit IF skipper withdrew.
