Great sim sailing weather, with a nice fleet turnout, highlighted the first Cat Fight in The North Sea for July, 2022. With a fresh breeze of 18 knots coming out of the southwest, rising to 21 knots during the second race, The North Sea regions were on their best behavior as no DNFs (Did Not Finish) were recorded on the day. The crowds that gathered along the shores of the islands in the Ziziphus and Genip regions, and on the small race dock in the Eden Jakana region, delighted in the energetic fleet-foiled feline fury on display from this weeks skippers. This weeks fleet, sailing on the North Sea Copacabana Reverse and North Sea Extreme courses, was made up of five The Mesh Shop (TMS) Flying Shadows for the first race. One skipper opted for their TMS Nacra 17, and another for their WildWind AC-62 to round out the fleet for the second race.

Today’s winner was Daenerys (blondij Resident), with Moon (moonglownight Resident) second, and Max (Max Starostin) in third place. Congratulations to all of you. Thank you to everyone who came to sail and spectate.

Race Notes:
Sirius(Sirius Rosca) and Emileigh (Emileigh Starbrook) both finished tied with 8 points. Rule A8.1 of Appendix A, Scoring, 2021 – 2024 World Sailing Racing Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:

If there is a series score tie between two or more boats, each boat’s race scores shall be listed in order of best to worst, and at the first point(s) where there is a difference the tie shall be broken in favour of the boat(s) with the best score(s). No excluded scores shall be used.

Skipper Best Finish Next Best Finish
Sirius Rosca 3 5
Emileigh Starbrook 4 4

With the race results rearranged in best to worst finish order, per A8.1, the tie breaks in Sirius’s favor with having a third place finish over Emileigh’s fourth place finish as her best.
