Calm seas, with a nice fleet turnout, highlighted this weeks North Sea Open Regatta. With a fresh breeze of 18 knots out of the southwest, The North Sea regions were well behaved as one DNF (Did Not Finish) was recorded on the day. The lone DNF was attributed to a skipper crashing while crossing over region corners during the big boat portion. The crowds that gathered on the beaches on the islands in the Ziziphus and Genip regions, and along the Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier and small race dock in the Eden Jakana region, delighted in a thrilling display of fleet racing from this weeks skippers.
This weeks small boat fleet, sailing on the North Sea CCW (Counter-Clockwise) course, was made up of a split majority of three Bandit 22 LTEs, and three The Mesh Shop (TMS) Star Class, two sailing single-handed and one sailing crewed respectively. Two Bandit IFs, and one Shields Class rounded out this weeks small boat fleet. Meanwhile, the big boat fleet, sailing on the North Sea Circle course, was made up of a majority of four TMS I-Mocca 60s. One Trudeau 12 Metre, one Trudeau Runa IV, one ACA33, one WildWind Open 60, and one Bandit 60 rounded out this weeks big boat fleet.
