Calm seas, with a nice fleet turnout, highlighted this weeks Cat Fight in The North Sea. It was the start of Memorial Day weekend in the United States, and The North Sea regions were well behaved with no DNFs (Did Not Finish) recorded on the day. The crowds that gathered on the lighthouse observation deck on the island in the Ziziphus region, the beaches on the island in the Genip region, and on the small race dock in the Eden Jakana region, reveled in the electric fleet-foiled feline frenzy on display from this weeks skippers. This weeks fleet, sailing on North Sea Olympic Course (Long) and the North Sea Snipe course, was made up of a majority of four The Mesh Shop (TMS) Flying Shadows. One TMS Nacra 17 rounded out this weeks catamaran fleet in the first race. One Flying Shadow skipper opted for his Nacra in the second race.

Race Notes:
Erin (clairehunt Resident) and Zero (Sleet Zero) finished tied with 7 points. As they both have duplicate finishes, Rule A8.2 of Appendix A, Scoring, 2021 – 2024 World Sailing Racing Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:

If a tie still remains between two or more boats, they shall be ranked in order of their scores in the last race. Any remaining ties shall be broken by using the tied boats’ scores in the next-to-last race and so on until all ties are broken. These scores shall be used even if some of them are excluded scores.

clairehunt Resident 4 3
Sleet Zero 3 4

In the last race, Erin breaks the tie with Zero with her third place finish over Zero’s fourth place finish.
