A beautiful Saturday afternoon in May. We thought so. We start with eight Bandit IFs. The start of the first race went smoothly. Eight boats in a row would be heading for the first mark. This was an island in Prune. Three skippers, Jack, Rugger and Red, broke down here. Rugger even ended up on the beach. Jack was able to continue sailing and made the best of the situation. Because of this situation, we had a front runner, Julie, who could not be overtaken. The chasing group, included Moon, Siri, Zero and Jack, would compete for second place. this resulted in beautiful images. At the Western turning point, Jack had to let the other three go. The three skippers kept fighting for second place until the very end.
We would start the second races with six boats. Two unlucky ones from the first race had to go home. Before the start, disaster struck for Jack. He had to drop out of the race. So we left with five skippers. Five Bandit Ifs in a row and the battle for first place would be a fierce one. Julie and Moon battled to the bitter end for first place. The other three, Siri, Zero and Alex, skippers should settle for third place. The front runners slowly moved away from the other three legs and the chasing group slowly broke up. As a result, third place was already secured by Siri. Julie made a mistake on the head, but recovered, so that the battle was not yet over.
There were four DNFs (Did Not Finish) and one DSQ (Disqualified) through both races and it was another successful and sporty day in The North Sea.

Today’s winners were Julie (JulieRoyale Resident), with Moon (moonglownight Resident) second, and Zero (Sleet Zero) in third place.
Congratulations to all of you. Thank you to everyone who came to sail and spectate.
Race Notes:
Siri (Sirius Rosca) was disqualified (DSQ) during the first race for finishing under protest while failing to complete a 360° penalty turn due to a Rule 11 On The Same Tack foul right before the finish line.
“11 ON THE SAME TACK, OVERLAPPED
When boats are on the same tack and overlapped, a windward boat shall keep clear of a leeward boat.“

Jack (Jacquimo Resident) and Alex (Alex0730 Resident) both finished tied with 10 points. Rule A8.1 of Appendix A, Scoring, 2021 – 2024 World Sailing Racing Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:
“If there is a series score tie between two or more boats, each boat’s race scores shall be listed in order of best to worst, and at the first point(s) where there is a difference the tie shall be broken in favour of the boat(s) with the best score(s). No excluded scores shall be used.“
Skipper | Best Finish | Next Best Finish |
Jacquimo Resident | 4 | 6 |
Alex0730 Resident | 5 | 5 |
With the race results rearranged in best to worst finish order, per A8.1, the tie breaks in Jack’s favor with having a fourth place finish over Alex’s fifth place finish as his best.
Siri (Sirius Rosca), Rugger (ruggeromare Resident), and Red (RedHeadJO Resident) all finished tied with 11 points.
Sirius Rosca | 3 | 8 |
ruggeromare Resident | 5 | 6 |
RedHeadJO Resident | 5 | 6 |
With the race results rearranged in best to worst finish order, per A8.1, the tie breaks in Siri’s favor with having third place finish over Rugger’s and Red’s fifth place finishes as their best.
As Rugger and Red both have the exact same finishes, DNFs (Did Not Finish) and DNS (Did Not Start) during the races, neither Rule A8.1 or Rule A8.2 of Appendix A, Scoring, 2021 – 2024 World Sailing Racing Rules of Sailing will satisfy breaking their tie. Therefore, Rugger and Red both remain tied in seventh place overall.
