Calm seas, with a nice fleet turnout, highlighted this weeks Cat Fight in The North Sea. The North Sea regions were well behaved with no DNFs (Did Not Finish) recorded on the day. The crowds that gathered on the beaches of the islands in the Ziziphus, and Genip regions, as well as on the Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier and small race dock in the Eden Jakana region, cheered on the frantic fleet-foiled feline frenzy on display from this weeks skippers. This weeks fleet, sailing on the North Sea Manta Reverse and North Sea Snipe courses, was made up of a majority of three The Mesh Shop (TMS) Flying Shadows, two sailing single-handed and one crewed respectively. Two WildWind AC-62s, two TMS Nacra 17s , and one WildWind AC-45 rounded out this weeks catamaran fleet for the first race. The second race saw one Flying Shadow skipper pick up crew, and one AC-62 skipper opt for his WildWind AC-45 instead.

Today’s winner was Julie (JulieRoyale Resident), with Isa (isab DeCuir) second, and Jenna (jnx1e Resident) in third place. Congratulations to all of you. Thank you to everyone who came to sail and spectate.

Race Notes:
Jenna (jnx1e Resident) and Moon (moonglownight Resident) both finished tied with 8 points. Rule A8.1 of Appendix A, Scoring, 2021 – 2024 World Sailing Racing Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:

If there is a series score tie between two or more boats, each boat’s race scores shall be listed in order of best to worst, and at the first point(s) where there is a difference the tie shall be broken in favour of the boat(s) with the best score(s). No excluded scores shall be used.

Skipper Best Finish Next Best Finish
jnx1e Resident 3 5
moonglownight Resident 4 4

With the race results rearranged in best to worst finish order, per A8.1, the tie breaks in Jenna’s favor with having a third place finish over Moon’s fourth place finish as his best.
