Calm seas, with a nice fleet turnout, highlighted this weeks Cat Fight in The North Sea. The North Sea and Fruit Islands regions were well behaved with two DNFs (Did Not Finish) recorded on the day. Both DNFs were attributed to skippers crashing while crossing over region corners. The crowds that gathered on the shores of the islands in the Ziziphus, Genip, and Ctirus regions, as well as on the Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier and small race dock in the Eden Jakana region, reveled in the frenetic fleet-foiled feline fury on display from this weeks skippers. This weeks fleet, sailing on the North Sea CCW (Counter-Clockwise) and North Sea Hay courses, was made up of a majority of four The Mesh Shop (TMS) Flying Shadows, three sailing single-handed and one sailing crewed respectively. Two TMS Nacra 17s, and two WildWind AC_45s rounded out this weeks catamaran fleet.

Today’s winner was Julie (JulieRoyale Resident), with Daenerys (blondij Resident) second, and Moon (moonglownight Resident) in third place. Congratulations to all of you. Thank you to everyone who came to sail and spectate.

Race Notes:
Jenna (jnx1e Resident) and Erin (clairehunt Resident) both finished tied with 9 points. Rule A8.1 of Appendix A, Scoring, 2021 – 2024 World Sailing Racing Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:

If there is a series score tie between two or more boats, each boat’s race scores shall be listed in order of best to worst, and at the first point(s) where there is a difference the tie shall be broken in favour of the boat(s) with the best score(s). No excluded scores shall be used.

Skipper Best Finish Next Best Finish
jnx1e Resident 3 6
clairehunt Resident 4 5

With the race results rearranged in best to worst finish order, per A8.1, the tie breaks in Jenna’s favor with having a third place finish over Erin’s fourth place finish as her best.
