This weeks Triple Threat Regatta was held on a beautiful Thursday afternoon in March with good sailing weather coming from the west. Today we had eight Bandit 22 LTEs, two The Mesh Shop (TMS) Star Class, and four Bandit IFs at the starting line. Three 22s, a Star Class, and a Bandit IF had crew on board
We had two great races. It soon became clear that on the IF a skipper was showing the other skippers how to win a race. With the 22s the races were exciting until the end.
There were three DNFs (Did Not Finish) and one DSQ (Disqualified) through both races and it was another successful and sporty day in The North Sea.
Race Director: Daenerys
Assistant Race Directors: Tamarushka, and Cryptic
Wind: 250° (WSW) 18kts
Wind: 245° (SW) 18kts
Note:
Did Not Finish (DNF) = number of finish +1
Disqualified (DSQ) = number of finish + number of DNFs + 1
Did Not Start (DNS) = number of start +1
Today’s winners on the Bandit IF were Julie (JulieRoyale), with Siri (Sirius Rosca) second, and Jack (Jacquimo Resident) in third place.
Today’s winners on the Bandit 22 LTE were Sea (filax Carter), with Cate (Cate Sewell) second, and Ester (citacg Resident) in third place.
Congratulations to all of you. Thank you to everyone who came to sail and spectate.
Race Notes:
Emi (Emileigh Starbrook ) was disqualified (DSQ) during the second race for sailing an incorrect course, missing the last course mark, the blue buoy in the Sapote region.
Siri (Sirius Rosca) and Jack (Jacquimo Resident) both finished tied with 6 points. Rule A8.1 of Appendix A, Scoring, 2021 – 2024 World Sailing Racing Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:
“If there is a series score tie between two or more boats, each boat’s race scores shall be listed in order of best to worst, and at the first point(s) where there is a difference the tie shall be broken in favour of the boat(s) with the best score(s). No excluded scores shall be used.“
Skipper | Best Finish | Next Best Finish |
Sirius Rosca | 2 | 4 |
Jacquimo Resident | 3 | 3 |
With the race results rearranged in best to worst finish order, per A8.1, the tie breaks in Siri’s favor with having a second place finish over Jack’s third place finish as his best.
Cate (Cate Sewell) and Ester (citacg Resident) both finished tied with 6 points.
Cate Sewell | 2 | 4 |
citacg Resident | 3 | 3 |
With the race results rearranged in best to worst finish order, per A8.1, the tie breaks in Cate’s favor with having a second place finish over Ester’s third place finish as her best.
