This weeks North Sea Bandit IF Regatta took place on a beautiful Saturday afternoon in October. Today, the races were again held Dragonfruit. This time we had a fleet of nine Bandit IF’s at the start. Two Bandit IF had crew on board. The North Sea regions behaved well and there was not a cloud in the sky. Two skippers gave up, because they where to far behind the fleet. One skipper did hit a crossing.

We would sailed two races. The first race started in Dragonfruit and finished in Eden Curlew. The second race would follow the same route back to Dragonfruit. In both races we started with compact fleets, making the races exciting.  In the first race the fleet did fall apart in couples of two or three boats. In the second race the fleet stayed together till the end.

We had three DNFs (Did Not Finish) and no DSQs (Disqualified) through all races and it was another successful and sporting day in The North Sea.

Race Director: Daenerys
Assist Race Director: Tamarushka, and Cryptic

Wind: 180° (S) 18kts

Wind: 225° (SW) 18kts

Note:
Did Not Finish (DNF) = number of finish + 1
Disqualified (DSQ) = number of finish + number of DNFs + 1
Did Not Start (DNS) = number of start + 1

Today’s winner was Julie (JulieRoyale Resident), with Jack (Jacquimo Resident) second, and Siri (Sirius Rosca) in third place. Congratulations to all of you. Thank you to everyone who came to sail and spectate.

Race Notes:
Rugger (ruggeromare Resident) and Juicy (juice651 Resident) both finished tied with 10 points. Rule A8.1 of Appendix A, Scoring, 2021 – 2024 World Sailing Racing Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:

If there is a series score tie between two or more boats, each boat’s race scores shall be listed in order of best to worst, and at the first point(s) where there is a difference the tie shall be broken in favour of the boat(s) with the best score(s). No excluded scores shall be used.

Skipper Best Finish Next Best Finish
ruggeromare Resident 4 6
juice651 Resident 5 5

With the race results rearranged in best to worst finish order, per A8.1, the tie breaks in Rugger’s favor with having a fourth place finish over Juicy’s fifth place finish as his best.

Brad (Brad Zeurra) and Angus (Angus Finlayson) both finished tied with 16 points. As they both have the exact same finishes, finishing with an eight point finish during the first race and an eight point finish during the second race respectively, neither Rule A8.1 or Rule A8.2 of Appendix A, Scoring, 2021 – 2024 World Sailing Racing Rules of Sailing will satisfy breaking their tie. Therefore, Brad and Angus remain tied in eight place overall.
