The last Thursday afternoon of October was a beautiful day for Triple Threat, with good sailing weather coming in from the southwest. The North Sea regions behaved well.
Today we had eight Bandits at the starting line of the first race. There were five Bandit 22 LTEs, and three Bandit IFs. One of the IFs had crew on board. An IF and 22 joined us in the second race. We had two exciting races with both fleets staying together for a long time.
There were no DNFs (Did Not Finish) and no DSQs (Disqualified) through both races and it was another successful and sporty day in The North Sea.
Race Director: Daenerys
Assistant Race Director: Tamarushka, and Cryptic
Wind: 230° (SW) 18kts
Wind: 220° (SW) 18kts
Note:
Did Not Finish (DNF) = number of finish +1
Disqualified (DSQ) = number of finish + number of DNFs + 1
Did Not Start (DNS) = number of start +1
Today’s winners on the Bandit 22 LTE were Nicole (Nicole Myhre), with Sea (filax Carter) second, and Moonglownight (Moonglownight Resident) in third place.
Today’s winners on the Bandit IF were Julie (JulieRoyale Resident), with Siri (Sirius Rosca) second, and Jack (Jacquimo Resident) in third place.
Congratulations to all of you. Thank you to everyone who came to sail and spectate.
Race Notes:
Erica (EricaMusashi Resident) and Jay (Jericho Anatine) both finished the second race tied at the finishing line with a time of 13:00. As their final time also remains tied, as they both sailed the same boat, Rule A7 of Appendix A, Scoring, 2021 – 2024 World Sailing Racing Rules of Sailing is used to score this tie:
“If boats are tied at the finishing line or if a handicap or rating system is used and boats have equal corrected times, the points for the place for which the boats have tied and for the place(s) immediately below shall be added together and divided equally. Boats tied for a race prize shall share it or be given equal prizes.“
Therefore, both Erica and Jericho receive 5.5 points, as the product for the place for which they have tied and for the place immediately below, 5 and 6, added together and divided equally.
Moonglownight (Moonglownight Resident) and Emileigh (Emileigh Starbrook) finished tied with 7 points. Rule A8.1 of Appendix A, Scoring, 2021 – 2024 World Sailing Racing Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:
“If there is a series score tie between two or more boats, each boat’s race scores shall be listed in order of best to worst, and at the first point(s) where there is a difference the tie shall be broken in favour of the boat(s) with the best score(s). No excluded scores shall be used.“
Skipper | Best Finish | Next Best Finish |
Moonglownight Resident | 1 | 7 |
Emileigh Starbrook | 3 | 4 |
With the race results rearranged in best to worst finish order, per A8.1, the tie breaks in Moon’s favor with having a first place finish over Emileigh’s third place finish as her best.
