Mostly calm seas, with a nice fleet turnout, highlighted this weeks Cat Fight in The North Sea. With a fresh breeze of 18 knots out of the southwest, rising to 21 knots during the second race, The North Sea regions were well behaved as two DNFs (Did Not Finish) were recorded on they day. The first DNF occurred during the first race, as a skipper crashed while crossing across region corners. The remaining DNF occurred during the second race due to a skipper pulling her boat after running aground on an island. The crowds that gathered at the lighthouses on the islands in the Genip, and Ziziphus regions, as well as on the Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier in the Eden Jakana region, cheered on the furious fleet-foiled feline frenzy on display from this weeks skippers. This weeks fleet, sailing on the North Sea Bowline Reverse and North Sea Extreme courses, was made up of a majority of seven The Mesh Shop (TMS) Flying Shadows, four sailing single-handed and three sailing crewed respectively. Two TMS Nacra 17s rounded out this weeks catamaran fleet.

Today’s winner was Julie (JulieRoyale Resident), with Jenna (jnx1e Resident) second, and Moon (moonglownight Resident) in third place. Congratulations to all of you. Thank you to everyone who came to sail and spectate.
Jenna (jnx1e Resident), Moon (moonglownight Resident), and Daenerys (blondij Resident) all finished tied with 6 points. Rule A8.1 of Appendix A, Scoring, 2021 – 2024 World Sailing Racing Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:
“If there is a series score tie between two or more boats, each boat’s race scores shall be listed in order of best to worst, and at the first point(s) where there is a difference the tie shall be broken in favour of the boat(s) with the best score(s). No excluded scores shall be used.“
|Skipper||Best Finish||Next Best Finish|
With the race results rearranged in best to worst finish order, per A8.1, the tie breaks in Jenna’s and Moon’s favor with having second place finishes over Daenerys’s third place finish as her best.
As Jenna and Moon both have duplicate finishes, Rule A8.2 of Appendix A, Scoring, 2021 – 2024 World Sailing Racing Rules of Sailing is used to break this remaining tie:
“If a tie still remains between two or more boats, they shall be ranked in order of their scores in the last race. Any remaining ties shall be broken by using the tied boats’ scores in the next-to-last race and so on until all ties are broken. These scores shall be used even if some of them are excluded scores.“
|Skipper||Race 1||Race 2|
In the last race, Jenna breaks the tie with Moon with her second place finish over Moon’s fourth place finish.
