Calm to slightly choppy sim sailing weather, with a great fleet turnout, highlighted this weeks North Sea Open Regatta. With a fresh breeze of 18 knots coming out of the southwest, the North Sea was smooth for most as only two DNFs (Did Not Finish) were recorded on the day. The first DNF was recorded during the small boat portion, as a skipper crashed while crossing over region corners. The second DNF was recorded during the big boat portion, as a skipper crashed due to a poor region crossing. The crowds that gathered at the lighthouses in the Ziziphus, Genip, and Citrus regions, as well as on the Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier in the Eden Jakana region, cheered on some spirited fleet racing from this weeks skippers.

This weeks small boat fleet, sailing on the North Sea Copacabana course, was made up of a majority of five Bandit 22 LTEs. Three Bandit IFs, one The Mesh Shop (TMS) Star Class, one TMS Nacra 17, one Dolphin Moth, and one Quest 2m rounded out this weeks small boat fleet. Meanwhile, the big boat fleet, sailing on the North Sea Hay course, was made up of a split majority of three WildWind Open 60s, and three TMS I-Mocca 60s. One TMS One Design 65, one TMS Ushuaia, one Bandit 55, one ACA33, and one Trudeau Runa IV rounded out this weeks big boat fleet.
