A beautiful Thursday afternoon in August was great day for the Triple Threat, with good sailing weather coming in from the southwest. The North Sea behaved well, however, a thunderstorm arose in the Fruit regions, causing problems for several skippers.
Today we had ten bandits at the starting line of the first race. There were five Bandit 22 LTEs, one with crew, and five Bandit IFs.
We had two great races. There were fights between the skippers. In the second race, the battle for first place was fought all the way to the finish line.
There were four DNFs (Did Not Finish) and no DSQs (Disqualified) through both races and it was another successful and sporty day in The North Sea.

Race Notes:
Emi (Emileigh Starbrook) and Sea (filax Carter) finished tied with 4 points. As they both have duplicate finishes, Rule A8.2 of Appendix A, Scoring, 2021 – 2024 World Sailing Racing Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:
“If a tie still remains between two or more boats, they shall be ranked in order of their scores in the last race. Any remaining ties shall be broken by using the tied boats’ scores in the next-to-last race and so on until all ties are broken. These scores shall be used even if some of them are excluded scores.“
Skipper | Race 1 | Race 2 |
Emileigh Starbrook | 3 | 1 |
filax Carter | 1 | 3 |
In the last race, Emi breaks the tie with Sea with her first place finish over Sea’s third place finish.
Farryn (FarrynMoon Resident) and Rugger (ruggeromare Resident) both finished tied with 7 points. Rule A8.1 of Appendix A, Scoring, 2021 – 2024 World Sailing Racing Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:
“If there is a series score tie between two or more boats, each boat’s race scores shall be listed in order of best to worst, and at the first point(s) where there is a difference the tie shall be broken in favour of the boat(s) with the best score(s). No excluded scores shall be used.“
Skipper | Best Finish | Next Best Finish |
FarrynMoon Resident | 2 | 5 |
ruggeromare Resident | 3 | 4 |
With the race results rearranged in best to worst finish order, per A8.1, the tie breaks in Farryn’s favor with having a second place finish over Rugger’s third place finish as his best.
