Calm seas, with a nice fleet turnout, highlighted this weeks Cat Fight in The North Sea. With a moderate breeze of 18 knots out of the southwest, rising to 21 knots in the second race, The North Sea regions were smooth for all as the only DNF (Did Not Finish) recorded on the day was from a skipper removing her boat after capsizing right after the start of the first race. The crowds that gathered along the shores of the islands in the Ziziphus and Genip regions, as well as on the small race dock in the Eden Jakana region, reveled in the frenetic fleet-foiled feline frenzy on display from this weeks skippers. This weeks fleet, sailing on the North Sea Half Mane and North Sea Extreme Reverse courses, was made up of a majority of three crewed The Mesh Shop (TMS) Flying Shadows. Two TMS Nacra 17s, and one WildWind AC-45 rounded out this weeks catamaran fleet.

Today’s winner was Daenerys (blondij Resident), with Moon (moonglownight Resident) second, and Jenna (jnx1e Resident) in third place. Congratulations to all of you. Thank you to everyone who came to sail and spectate.
Daenerys (blondij Resident) and Moon (moonglownight Resident) both finished tied with 4 points. Rule A8.1 of Appendix A, Scoring, 2021 – 2024 World Sailing Racing Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:
“If there is a series score tie between two or more boats, each boat’s race scores shall be listed in order of best to worst, and at the first point(s) where there is a difference the tie shall be broken in favour of the boat(s) with the best score(s). No excluded scores shall be used.“
|Skipper||Best Finish||Next Best Finish|
With the race results rearranged in best to worst finish order, per A8.1, the tie breaks in Daenerys’s favor with having a first place finish over Moon’s second place finish as his best.
Emileigh (Emileigh Starbrook) and Sea (filax Carter) finished tied with 11 points. As they both have duplicate finishes, Rule A8.2 of Appendix A, Scoring, 2021 – 2024 World Sailing Racing Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:
“If a tie still remains between two or more boats, they shall be ranked in order of their scores in the last race. Any remaining ties shall be broken by using the tied boats’ scores in the next-to-last race and so on until all ties are broken. These scores shall be used even if some of them are excluded scores.“
|Skipper||Race 1||Race 2|
In the last race, Emileigh breaks the tie with Sea with his second place finish over Sea’s fourth place finish.
