Great sim sailing weather, with a nice fleet turnout, highlighted this weeks North Sea Bandit Regatta. With a moderate breeze of 18 knots coming from the southwest, The North Sea regions were calm and well behaved for everyone as no DNFs (Did Not Finish) were recorded on the day. The crowds that gathered along the shores of the islands in the Genip and Ziziphus regions, as well as on the Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier in the Eden Jakana region, cheered on a spirited display of fleet racing from this weeks skippers. This weeks fleet, sailing on the North Sea Manta and North Sea Copacabana courses, was made up of a majority of five Bandit IFs, three sailing single-handed and two sailing crewed respectively. Four Bandit 22 LTEs rounded out this weeks Bandit fleet.

Today’s winner was Sea (filax Carter), with Julie (JulieRoyale Resident) second, and Moon (moonglownight Resident) in third place. Congratulations to all of you. Thank you to everyone who came to sail and spectate and to the SLCG for helping with race duties.
Race Notes:
Jackson (Jacquimo Resident) was disqualified (DSQ) from the first race for finishing under protest while failing to complete a 360° penalty turn due to a Rule 11 On The Same Tack, Overlapped foul.
“11 ON THE SAME TACK, OVERLAPPED
When boats are on the same tack and overlapped, a windward boat shall keep clear of a leeward boat.“

Zimtzicke (Nicole Myhre) was disqualified (DSQ) during the second race for sailing an incorrect course, crossing the finish line while missing the final two marks of the course.
Julie (JulieRoyale Resident) and Moon (moonglownight Resident) both finished tied with 6 points. Rule A8.1 of Appendix A, Scoring, 2021 – 2024 World Sailing Racing Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:
“If there is a series score tie between two or more boats, each boat’s race scores shall be listed in order of best to worst, and at the first point(s) where there is a difference the tie shall be broken in favour of the boat(s) with the best score(s). No excluded scores shall be used.“
Skipper | Best Finish | Next Best Finish |
JulieRoyale Resident | 1 | 5 |
moonglownight Resident | 3 | 3 |
With the race results rearranged in best to worst finish order, per A8.1, the tie breaks in Julie’s favor with having a first place finish over Moon’s third place finish as his best.
Zimtzicke (Nicole Myhre), Emileigh (Emileigh Starbrook), and Max (Maximiliano Szondi) all finished tied with 13 points.
Nicole Myhre | 4 | 9 |
Emileigh Starbrook | 6 | 7 |
Maximiliano Szondi | 6 | 7 |
With the race results rearranged in best to worst finish order, per A8.1, the tie breaks in Zimtzicke’s favor with having a fourth place finish over Emileigh’s and Max’s sixth place finishes as their best.
As Emileigh and Max both have duplicate finishes, Rule A8.2 of Appendix A, Scoring, 2021 – 2024 World Sailing Racing Rules of Sailing is used to break this remaining tie:
“If a tie still remains between two or more boats, they shall be ranked in order of their scores in the last race. Any remaining ties shall be broken by using the tied boats’ scores in the next-to-last race and so on until all ties are broken. These scores shall be used even if some of them are excluded scores.“
Skipper | Race 1 | Race 2 |
Emileigh Starbrook | 7 | 6 |
Maximiliano Szondi | 6 | 7 |
In the last race, Emileigh breaks the tie with Max with her sixth place finish over Max’s seventh place finish.
