Calm seas, with a light fleet turnout, highlighted this weeks Cat Fight in The North Sea. With a fresh breeze of 18 knots out of the southwest, that shifted to the southeast during the second race, The North Sea regions were well behaved as the only DNF (Did Not Finish) on the day was from a skipper pulling her boat due to RL circumstances. The crowds that gathered at the lighthouses in the Ziziphus and Citrus regions, as well as on the island in the Genip region and the Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier in the Eden Jakana region, cheered on the frenetic fleet-foiled feline frenzy on display from this weeks skippers. This weeks fleet, sailing on the North Sea Hay and North Sea Cat Fight 02 courses, was made up of a majority of three The Mesh Shop (TMS) Flying Shadows, two sailing crewed and one sailing single-handed respectively. One TMS Nacra 17, and one WildWind AC-45 rounded out this weeks catamaran fleet.

Today’s winner was Jenna (jnx1e Resident), with Moon (moonglownight Resident) second, and Daenerys (blondij Resident) in third place. Congratulations to all of you. Thank you to everyone who came to sail and spectate.

Race Notes:
Jenna (jnx1e Resident) and Moon (moonglownight Resident) both finished tied with 4 points. Rule A8.1 of Appendix A, Scoring, 2021 – 2024 World Sailing Racing Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:

If there is a series score tie between two or more boats, each boat’s race scores shall be listed in order of best to worst, and at the first point(s) where there is a difference the tie shall be broken in favour of the boat(s) with the best score(s). No excluded scores shall be used.

Skipper Best Finish Next Best Finish
jnx1e Resident 1 3
moonglownight Resident 2 2

With the race results rearranged in best to worst finish order, per A8.1, the tie breaks in Jenna’s favor with having a first place finish over Moon’s second place finish as his best.
