Calm to choppy seas, with a nice fleet turnout, highlighted this weeks Cat Fight in The North Sea. The North Sea regions saw a fresh breeze of 18 knots out of the southwest for the first race, which saw every skipper finish on calm seas. A storm rolled in during the second race, as the wind shifted from the northwest, with four DNFs (Did Not Finish) occurring. Of those four DNFs, two were from skippers crashing while crossing over regions corners, a third was from a skipper crashing to her desktop in the middle of a region, and the remainder was from a skipper pulling her boat due to frustration. The crowds that gathered along the shores of the islands in the Ziziphus and Genip regions, as well as on the small race dock in the Eden Jakana region, reveled in the frantic fleet-foiled frenetic frenzy on display from this weeks skippers.
This weeks first race fleet, sailing on North Sea SS-01 (Summer Sailstice), was made up of a majority of seven The Mesh Shop (TMS) Flying Shadows, four sailing single-handed and three sailing with crew respectively. Two WildWind AC-45s rounded out the first race fleet. Meanwhile, the second race fleet, sailing on the newly created North Sea Cat Fight 01 course, was again made up of a majority of seven TMS Flying Shadows, four sailing single-handed and three sailing crewed respectively. One TMS Nacra 17 and one WildWind AC-45 rounded out the second race fleet.

Jenna (jnx1e Resident) and Daenerys (blondij Resident) both finished the first race tied at the finishing line with a time of 10:10. As their final time also remains tied, as they both sailed the same boat, Rule A7 of Guidance on Scoring under Appendix A to the Rules of Sailing is used to score this tie:
“If boats are tied at the finishing line or if a handicap or rating system is used and boats have equal corrected times, the points for the place for which the boats have tied and for the place(s) immediately below shall be added together and divided equally. Boats tied for a race prize shall share it or be given equal prizes.“
Therefore, both Jenna and Daenerys receive 1.5 points, as the product for the place for which they have tied and for the place immediately below, 1 and 2, added together and divided equally.
