This weeks Bandit IF Regatta was held on a beautiful winter Saturday afternoon in the tropical Fruit Islands and North Sea. This time we had a fleet of eleven Bandit IFs at the start. Two of the eleven Bandit IFs had crew.

After the start of the first race we had a compact fleet that was only heading for the first mark. This went surprisingly well. Near the Cherry region the fleet was still fairly close together. There they had to avoid an island alone. The rest of the race went without a hitch. At the gate in the Sapote region, the fleet was already fairly separated.

In the second race, we already had a fleet set out from the start. This is because the start with a south wind was uncomfortable. In the Bullace region, we had two front runners and a chasing group of five boats. one of the five boats got into trouble on its way back through the islands

We had two DNFs (Did Not Finish) and two DSQs (Disqualified) through all races and it was another successful and sporting day in The North Sea.

More pictures after the results.

Today’s winner was Ian (IanPixel Resident), with Moon (Moonglownight Resident) second, and Siri (Sirius Rosca) in third place. Congratulations to all of you. Thank you to everyone who came to sail and spectate.

Race Notes:
Amy (Montserrat Naidoo) and Rugger (Ruggeromare Resident) where both disqualified (DSQ) during the second race for sailing an incorrect course, rounding the pink mark in sloe Counter-clock wise instead of Clock wise.

Julie (JulieRoyale Resident) and Jack (Jacquimo Resident) both finished tied with 10 points. Rule A8.1 of Guidance on Scoring under Appendix A to the Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:

If there is a series score tie between two or more boats, each boat’s race scores shall be listed in order of best to worst, and at the first point(s) where there is a difference the tie shall be broken in favour of the boat(s) with the best score(s). No excluded scores shall be used.

Skipper Best Finish Next Best Finish
JulieRoyale Resident 2 8
Jacquimo Resident 5 5

With the race results rearranged in best to worst finish order, per A8.1, the tie breaks in Julie’s favor with having a second place finish over Jack’s fifth place finish as his best.

Max (Maximiliano Szondi) and Rugger (Ruggeromare Resident) both finished tied with 16 points.

Maximiliano Szondi 6 10
Ruggeromare Resident 8 8

With the race results rearranged in best to worst finish order, per A8.1, the tie breaks in Max’s favor with having a sixth place finish over Ruggers eight place finish as his best.
