A beautiful Thursday afternoon in January, already the third Thursday Triple Threat of 2021 with a nice wind again coming from the south-west and no thunderstorm in the air. Today we had seven Bandit 22 LTEs and six Star Class on the starting line.

We had two great races with a compact fleet until quite long after the start.

Today we will also talk about something else. Since today “The Circle of the Dragon” consists of a ring of fire 🙂

We had two DNFs (Did Not Finish) and no DSQs (Disqualified) through both races and it was another successful and sporty day in The North Sea.

More pictures after the results.

Today’s winners on the Bandit 22 LTE were Julie (JulieRoyale Resident), with Jenna (jnx1e Resident) second, and Cilian (Cilian McCullough) in third place.

Today’s winners on the Star Class were Ian (IanPixel Resident), with Siri (Sirius Rosca) second, and Emi (Emileigh Starbrook) in third place.

Congratulations to all of you. Thank you to everyone who came to sail and spectate.

Race Notes:
Ian (IanPixel Resident) and Siri (Sirius Rosca) finished tied with 3 points. As they both have duplicate finishes, Rule A8.2 of Guidance on Scoring under Appendix A to the Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:

If a tie still remains between two or more boats, they shall be ranked in order of their scores in the last race. Any remaining ties shall be broken by using the tied boats’ scores in the next-to-last race and so on until all ties are broken. These scores shall be used even if some of them are excluded scores.

Skipper Race 1 Race 2
IanPixel Resident 2 1
Sirius Rosca 1 2

In the last race, Ian breaks the tie with Siri with his first place finish over Siri’s second place finish.

Jack (Jacquimo Resident),  Amy (Montserrat Naidoo) and Max (Maximiliano Szondi) finished tied with 10 points. Rule A8.1 of Guidance on Scoring under Appendix A to the Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:

If there is a series score tie between two or more boats, each boat’s race scores shall be listed in order of best to worst, and at the first point(s) where there is a difference the tie shall be broken in favour of the boat(s) with the best score(s). No excluded scores shall be used.

Skipper Best Finish Next Best Finish
Jacquimo Resident 4 6
Montserrat Naidoo 4 6
Maximiliano Szondi 5 5

With the race results rearranged in best to worst finish order, per A8.1, the tie breaks in Jack’s and Amy’s favor with having fourth place finishes over Max’s fifth place finish as his best. As Jack and Amy both have duplicate finishes, Rule A8.2 of Guidance on Scoring under Appendix A to the Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:

If a tie still remains between two or more boats, they shall be ranked in order of their scores in the last race. Any remaining ties shall be broken by using the tied boats’ scores in the next-to-last race and so on until all ties are broken. These scores shall be used even if some of them are excluded scores.

Skipper Race 1 Race 2
Jacquimo Resident 6 4
Montserrat Naidoo 4 6

In the last race, Jack breaks the tie with Amy with his fourth place finish over Amy’s sixth place finish.
