Calm seas, with a nice fleet turnout, highlighted this weeks Cat Fight in The North Sea. The North Sea regions were calm for everyone, as the three DNFs (Did Not Finish) recorded on the day were due to skippers hitting region corners, all in the second race. We will take this moment, once again, to remind our skippers to please sail with your mini-map open and be aware of your surroundings in the region as an avatar can not exist in four regions at once. The crowds that gathered on the small race dock and Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier, both in the Eden Jakana region, and on the observation deck of the lighthouse on the island in the Ziziphus region, cheered on the finicky fleet-foiled feline frenzy on display from this weeks skippers. This weeks fleet, sailing on the North Sea Double Loop and North Sea Lion’s Made courses, was made up of a majority of nine The Mesh Shop (TMS) Flying Shadows, five sailing single-handed and four sailing with crew respectively. One lone TMS Nacra 17 rounded out this weeks catamaran fleet.

Race Notes:
Emileigh (Emileigh Starbrook), Rayz (Rayzza Rubble), and Palani (Palani Allen) all finished tied with 10 points. Rule A8.1 of Guidance on Scoring under Appendix A to the Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:
“If there is a series score tie between two or more boats, each boat’s race scores shall be listed in order of best to worst, and at the first point(s) where there is a difference the tie shall be broken in favour of the boat(s) with the best score(s). No excluded scores shall be used.“
Skipper | Best Finish | Next Best Finish |
Emileigh Starbrook | 3 | 7 |
Rayzza Rubble | 3 | 7 |
Palani Allen | 4 | 6 |
With the race results rearranged in best to worst finish order, per A8.1, the tie breaks in Emileigh’s and Rayz’s favor with having third place finishes over Palani’s fourth place finish as his best. As Emileigh and Rayz both have duplicate finishes, Rule A8.2 of Guidance on Scoring under Appendix A to the Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:
“If a tie still remains between two or more boats, they shall be ranked in order of their scores in the last race. Any remaining ties shall be broken by using the tied boats’ scores in the next-to-last race and so on until all ties are broken. These scores shall be used even if some of them are excluded scores.“
Skipper | Race 1 | Race 2 |
Emileigh Starbrook | 7 | 3 |
Rayzza Rubble | 3 | 7 |
In the last race, Emileigh breaks the tie with Rayz with her third place finish over Rayz’s seventh place finish.
Rider (Rider Wilder) and Juicy (juice651 Resident) both finished tied with 16 points.
Rider Wilder | 6 | 10 |
juice651 Resident | 7 | 9 |
With the race results rearranged in best to worst finish order, per A8.1, the tie breaks in Rider’s favor with having a sixth place finish over Juicy’s seventh place finish as his best.
