Saturday afternoon was beautiful afternoon in the fall. This time we had a fleet of nine Bandit IFs at the start. Two of the nine Bandit IFs had crew. The North Sea regions and Fruit regions were well behaved and there was not a cloud in the sky. After the first race, another Bandit joined the company.
We had a good start and we had a group of five boats right from the start. One of the chased boats split immediately after take-off. This boat joined the company at the first mark. After this mark, the leader took the lead on the chasing group. In the Sapodilla region another boat joined the chasing group. Which gave us a leader with a group of five pursuers. This group fell apart after the match slowly progressed and the order of entry was decided at the Eden Albatros region.
In the second race, we had a group of five boats heading for the first mark. After the second mark we had a front runner with two groups of two boaters that were well matched. These were chased by three other boats. After the second mark everyone went their own way. At the third mark, we had a vast group of six boats. One of the skippers broke down here and had to give up
We had three DNFs (Did Not Finish) and no DSQs (Disqualified) through both races and it was another successful and sporting day in The North Sea.
More pictures after the results.

Race Notes:
Amy (Montserrat Naidoo), Juicy (juice651 Resident), Rugger (ruggeromare Resident) and Zoda (Shakhzoda Resident) all finished tied with 16 points. Rule A8.1 of Guidance on Scoring under Appendix A to the Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:
“If there is a series score tie between two or more boats, each boat’s race scores shall be listed in order of best to worst, and at the first point(s) where there is a difference the tie shall be broken in favour of the boat(s) with the best score(s). No excluded scores shall be used.“
Skipper | Best Finish | Next Best Finish |
Montserrat Naidoo | 6 | 10 |
juice651 Resident | 7 | 9 |
ruggeromare Resident | 7 | 9 |
Shakhzoda Resident | 8 | 8 |
With the race results rearranged in best to worst finish order, per A8.1, the tie breaks in Amy’s favor with having a sixth place finish over Juice and Rugger’s seventh place finish as their best and Zoda’s eighth place as her best.
As Juicy (juice651 Resident) and Rugger (ruggeromare Resident) have duplicate finishes, Rule A8.2 of Guidance on Scoring under Appendix A to the Rules of Sailing is used to break this remaining tie:
“If a tie still remains between two or more boats, they shall be ranked in order of their scores in the last race. Any remaining ties shall be broken by using the tied boats’ scores in the next-to-last race and so on until all ties are broken. These scores shall be used even if some of them are excluded scores.“
Skipper | Race 1 | Race 2 |
juice651 Resident | 9 | 7 |
ruggeromare Resident | 7 | 9 |
In the last race, Juicy breaks the tie with Rugger with his seventh place finish over Rugger’s ninth place finish.
