Wonderful sim sailing weather and a great fleet turnout highlighted this weeks North Sea Bandit Regatta. The North Sea regions were on their best behavior for this weeks large fleet, as every skipper finished their race with no crashes or DNFs (Did Not Finish) recorded on the day. The crowds that gathered on the Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier and small race dock, both in the Eden Jakana region, and on the observation deck of the lighthouse on the island in the Ziziphus region, cheered the exciting fleet racing on display from this weeks skippers. This weeks fleet, sailing on the North Sea 02 and North Sea 03 courses, was comprised of a majority of seven Bandit 22 LTEs. Five Bandit 25Rs and three Bandit IFs, one sailing single-handed and two sailing with crew respectively, rounded out this weeks Bandit fleet.

Today’s winner was Julie (JulieRoyale Resident), with Sandra (WWWAAAA Resident) second, and Moon (moonglownight Resident) in third place. Congratulations to all of you. Thank you to everyone who came to sail and spectate and to the SLCG for helping with race duties.
Race Notes:
Kim (Kim Farleigh) and Sirius (Sirius Rosca) both finished tied with 12 points. Rule A8.1 of Guidance on Scoring under Appendix A to the Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:
“If there is a series score tie between two or more boats, each boat’s race scores shall be listed in order of best to worst, and at the first point(s) where there is a difference the tie shall be broken in favour of the boat(s) with the best score(s). No excluded scores shall be used.“
Skipper | Best Finish | Next Best Finish |
Kim Farleigh | 3 | 9 |
Sirius Rosca | 6 | 6 |
With the race results rearranged in best to worst finish order, per A8.1, the tie breaks in Kim’s favor with having a third place finish over Sirius’s sixth place finish as his best.
