Saturday afternoon was beautiful, in the middle of a hot summer, with good sailing weather and not a single thunderstorm to be seen. This time we invited several classes to make this Saturday afternoon a special match. So we had seven Bandit IFs, two Bandit 22 LTEs and two The Mesh Shop (TMS) Star Class, one with crew and one sailing single-handed respectively.
The boats would all start simultaneously, but there would be three races here at the same time. Because all boats sail under BOSS3, we could deviate from the standard wind direction that everyone can now dream. For me BOSS3 and BOSS4 is the future for sailing in Secondlife™.

We had a good start again. Immediately after the start, two groups of four boats were already formed
After the first buoy a Bandit 22 took the lead, this was followed by two Bandit IFs who competed for first place for the Bandit IF class. The two TMS Star Classes got stuck between the other Bandit IFs. Halfway through the race we lost a TMS Star Class.

In the second race, the Bandit IFs took the lead at the start. Rounding the first mark, an island, we had a group of nine boats. However, we lost two Bandit IFs at the second mark. The route took us along the pier of Eden Jakana to Eden Albatros. Here a Bandit 22 was in charge of a group of five boats, including a TMS Star Class.

We had four DNFs (Did Not Finish) through both races and it was another successful and sporty day in The North Sea.

More pictures after the results.

Today’s winners on the Bandit 22 LTE were Jenna ( jnx1e Resident), with Kim (Kim Farleigh) second.

Today’s winners on the Bandit IF were Siri (Sirius Rosca), with Julie (JulieRoyale Resident) second, and Moon (moonglownight Resident) in third place.

Today’s winners on the TMS Star Class were Callie (SheCallie Resident), with Emi (Emileigh Starbrook) second.

Congratulations to all of you. Thank you to everyone who came to sail and spectate.

Race Notes:
Moon (Moonglownight Resident) was disqualified (DSQ) during the first race for finishing the race under protest while failing to complete a 360° penalty turn due to a Rule 10 On Opposite Tacks foul committed right after the start.

10 ON OPPOSITE TACKS
When boats are on opposite tacks, a port-tack boat shall keep clear of a starboard-tack boat.

Emileigh (Emileigh Starbrook) was disqualified (DSQ) during the second race for sailing an incorrect course, missing the Yellow pin in the Bullace region.

Moon (moonglownight Resident) and Rugger (ruggeromare Resident) both finished tied with 7 points. Rule A8.1 of Guidance on Scoring under Appendix A to the Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:

If there is a series score tie between two or more boats, each boat’s race scores shall be listed in order of best to worst, and at the first point(s) where there is a difference the tie shall be broken in favour of the boat(s) with the best score(s). No excluded scores shall be used.

Skipper Best Finish Next Best Finish
moonglownight Resident 1 6
ruggeromare Resident 3 4

With the race results rearranged in best to worst finish order, per A8.1, the tie breaks in Moon’s favor with having a first place finish over Ruggers third place finish as his best.

Tora (torajiro Whitfield) and Izi (Izi Shinohara) both finished tied with 8 points.

Skipper Best Finish Next Best Finish
torajiro Whitfield 3 5
Izi Shinohara 4 4

With the race results rearranged in best to worst finish order, per A8.1, the tie breaks in Torajiroe’s favor with having a third place finish over Izi’s forth place finish as her best.
