Saturday afternoon started as a beautiful day. During the races, however, a few thunderstorms arose above the west of The North Sea. This time we had eleven Bandit IF’s, including two with crew.
We had a great start. We had several nice battles for different places, but a skipper lost track and almost missed the buoy in Eden Auk.
The second race went better and again was a nice game. The fleet spread slowly and the skippers dug their oars between the islands of Eden.
We had one DSQ (disqualified) and four DNFs (Did Not Finish) through both races, however it was another successful and sporty day in The North Sea.
More pictures after the results.
Race Director: Daenerys
Wind: 225° (SW) 18kts
Wind: 240° (SW) 11kts
Note:
Did Not Finish (DNF) = number of finish +1
Did Not Start (DNS) = number of start +1
Today’s winner was Rugger (ruggeromare Resident ), with Jackson (Jacquimo Resident) second, and Moon (moonglownight Resident) in third place. Congratulations to all of you. Thank you to everyone who came to sail and spectate.
Race Notes:
Dunia (Dunia Moulliez) whas disqualified (DSQ) during the first race for sailing an incorrect course. She sailed west of the Green buoy in the Eden Shag region, the last mark on the course, instead of east of the buoy, as indicated for the course.
Dunia (Dunia Moulliez) and Kim (Kim Farleigh) both finished tied with 14 points. Rule A8.1 of Guidance on Scoring under Appendix A to the Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:
“If there is a series score tie between two or more boats, each boat’s race scores shall be listed in order of best to worst, and at the first point(s) where there is a difference the tie shall be broken in favour of the boat(s) with the best score(s). No excluded scores shall be used.“
Skipper | Best Finish | Next Best Finish |
Dunia Moulliez | 5 | 9 |
Kim Farleigh | 6 | 8 |
With the race results rearranged in best to worst finish order, per A8.1, the tie breaks in Dunia’s favor with having a fifth place finish over Kim’s sixth place as her best.
Rique (MDot357 Resident) and Remotay (Remotay Adagio) both finished tied with 18 points. As they both have the exact same finishes, finishing with a 9 points finish during the first race and a 9 points finish during the second race respectively, neither Rule A8.1 or Rule A8.2 of Guidance on Scoring under Appendix A to the Rules of Sailing will satisfy breaking their tie. Therefore, Rique and Remotay remain tied in tenth place overall.
« dug their oar » ? Not enough wind today?
