Calm seas and a great fleet turnout highlighted this weeks North Sea Open Regatta. The regions of The North Sea were well behaved as only one DNF (Did Not Finish) was recorded on the day, due to a skippers internet connection dropping on them during the big boat portion. The crowds gathered on the Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier, in the Eden Jakana region, and along the shores of the islands in the Ziziphus and Genip regions, were enthusiastically cheering on this weeks skippers.
This weeks small boat fleet, sailing on the North Sea Olympic Mirror course, was comprised of a majority of seven Bandit IFs, six sailing single-handed with one sailing crewed respectively. Three The Mesh Shop (TMS) Nacra 17s, two Bandit 25Rs, two Quest M-24s, one TMS Star Class, one TMS Flying Shadow, and one Dolphin Moth rounded out the small boat fleet. Meanwhile, the big boat fleet, sailing on the North Sea Butterfly course, was comprised of a majority of five Wildwind Open 60s. Two Wildwind AC-45s, one TMS One Design 65, one TMS Pacha 110, and one Trudeau 12 Metre rounded out this weeks big boat fleet.
