Smooth seas and a nice fleet turnout highlighted this weeks Cat Fight in The North Sea. The regions of The North Sea were smooth and behaved as the only DNFs (Did Not Finish) on the day, one a piece in both races, were due to a skippers Wifi connection lagging out on her. The crowds that gathered on the observation deck of the lighthouse in the Ziziphus region, and on the island in the Genip region, were cheering on the fleet-foiled feline frenzy on display from this weeks skippers. This weeks fleet, sailing on the North Sea Triple Pink and North Sea Snipe courses, was comprised of a majority of three The Mesh Shop (TMS) Flying Shadows, two sailing single-handed and one sailing with crew respectively. Two TMS Nacra 17s and one Wildwind AC-45 rounded out the catamaran fleet for the first race. For the second race, the Wildwind AC-45 skipper switched out to her TMS Nacra 17 and another skipper arrived to sail his TMS Flying Shadow.

Race Notes:
Palani (Palani Allen) and Sea (filax Carter) finished tied with 13 points. As they both have duplicate finishes, Rule A8.2 of Guidance on Scoring under Appendix A to the Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:

If a tie still remains between two or more boats, they shall be ranked in order of their scores in the last race. Any remaining ties shall be broken by using the tied boats’ scores in the next-to-last race and so on until all ties are broken. These scores shall be used even if some of them are excluded scores.

Skipper Race 1 Race 2
Palani Allen 7 6
filax Carter 6 7

In the last race, Palani breaks the tie with Sea with his sixth place finish over Sea’s seventh place finish.
