Nice sim sailing weather and another great fleet turnout highlighted this weeks North Sea Bandit Regatta. The regions of The North Sea were behaved for the most part as no DNFs (Did Not Finish) were recorded on the day. However, there were still some spots of rough seas as two skippers were stripped from their boats on region crossings during the second race. Those skippers were ultimately able to recover and finish the race. The spectators on hand, gathered on the islands in the Genip and Ziziphus regions, and on the Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier, in the Eden Jakana region, were treated to some great racing from this weeks skippers. This weeks fleet, sailing on the North Sea 01 course and North Sea Olympic Course (Long), was comprised of a majority of six Bandit IFs, two sailing with crew and four sailing single-handed respectively. Five Bandit 25Rs made up the remainder of this weeks fleet.

Today’s winner was Daenerys (blondij Resident), with Teagan (Teagan Snowpaw) second, and Rayz (Rayzza Rubble) in third place. Congratulations to all of you. Thank you to everyone who came to sail and spectate and to the SLCG for helping with race duties.

Race Notes:
Daenerys (blondij Resident) and Teagan (Teagan Snowpaw) finished tied with 3 points. As they both have duplicate finishes, Rule A8.2 of Guidance on Scoring under Appendix A to the Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:

If a tie still remains between two or more boats, they shall be ranked in order of their scores in the last race. Any remaining ties shall be broken by using the tied boats’ scores in the next-to-last race and so on until all ties are broken. These scores shall be used even if some of them are excluded scores.

Teagan Snowpaw 1 2

In the last race, Daenerys breaks the tie with Teagan with her first place finish over Teagan’s second place finish.

Julie (JulieRoyale Resident) and Sirius (Sirius Rosca) finished tied with 11 points.

Max (Maximiliano Szondi), Rugger (ruggeromare Resident), and Emileigh (Emileigh Starbrook) all finished tied with 18 points. Rule A8.1 of Guidance on Scoring under Appendix A to the Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:

If there is a series score tie between two or more boats, each boat’s race scores shall be listed in order of best to worst, and at the first point(s) where there is a difference the tie shall be broken in favour of the boat(s) with the best score(s). No excluded scores shall be used.

Skipper Best Finish Next Best Finish
Maximiliano Szondi 7 11
ruggeromare Resident 7 11

With the race results rearranged in best to worst finish order, per A8.1, the tie breaks in Max’s and Rugger’s favor with having seventh place finishes over Emileigh’s eighth place finish as her best. Furthermore, as Max and Rugger both have duplicate finishes, Rule A8.2 of Guidance on Scoring under Appendix A to the Rules of Sailing is used to break this remaining tie:

If a tie still remains between two or more boats, they shall be ranked in order of their scores in the last race. Any remaining ties shall be broken by using the tied boats’ scores in the next-to-last race and so on until all ties are broken. These scores shall be used even if some of them are excluded scores.
