Stormy sim sailing weather highlighted this weeks Cat Fight in The North Sea. The regions of The North Sea were pesky as six DNFs (Did Not Finish) were recorded on the day, three in each race respectively, all due to crashes. While the seas were stormy, the crowd was lively, as they gathered on the small race dock in the Eden Jakana region and on the beaches of the island in the Ziziphus region, cheering on this weeks fleet-foiled felines. This weeks fleet, sailing on the North Sea Triple Pink and North Sea Copacabana courses, was comprised of a majority of six The Mesh Shop (TMS) Flying Shadows, five sailing single-handed and one sailing with crew respectively. Two TMS Nacra 17s made up the remainder of this weeks fleet.

Today’s winner was Bianca (TgBianca Resident), with Teagan (Teagan Snowpaw) second, and Isa (isab DeCuir) in third place. Congratulations to all of you. Thank you to everyone who came to sail and spectate.
Race Notes:
Teaga (Teagan Snowpaw), Isa (isab DeCuir), and Nihiwatu (Nihiwatu Resident) all finished tied with 6 points. Rule A8.1 of Guidance on Scoring under Appendix A to the Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:
“If there is a series score tie between two or more boats, each boat’s race scores shall be listed in order of best to worst, and at the first point(s) where there is a difference the tie shall be broken in favour of the boat(s) with the best score(s). No excluded scores shall be used.“
Skipper | Best Finish | Next Best Finish |
Teagan Snowpaw | 1 | 5 |
isab DeCuir | 1 | 5 |
Nihiwatu Resident | 3 | 3 |
With the race results rearranged in best to worst finish order, per A8.1, the tie breaks in Teagan’s and Isa’s favor with having first place finishes over Nihiwatu’s third place finish as her best. Furthermore, as Teagan and Isa have duplicate finishes, Rule A8.2 of Guidance on Scoring under Appendix A to the Rules of Sailing is used to further break this tie:
“If a tie still remains between two or more boats, they shall be ranked in order of their scores in the last race. Any remaining ties shall be broken by using the tied boats’ scores in the next-to-last race and so on until all ties are broken. These scores shall be used even if some of them are excluded scores.“
Skipper | Race 1 | Race 2 |
Teagan Snowpaw | 5 | 1 |
isab DeCuir | 1 | 5 |
In the last race, Teagan breaks the tie with Isa with her first place finish over Isa’s fifth place finish.
