It was the last Saturday afternoon of September around the clock of 1 pm slt where we were allowed to look at ten Bandit IFs at the starting line in the glittering sun, four of them with crew. Right after the start the fleet split in two. At the first buoy a fight took place between two boats, for whom the first was at the buoy. Immediately behind them, two boats rejoined the fleet to the west of Ziziphus and three groups emerged who were daring to each other.

At the second start it seems hectic to go, but everyone came across the starting line intact. Soon one of the sailors took the lead not to give it up anymore, behind him we had a fight arose for second place, which was decided in Genip by a nice action by Red.

With three DNFs and none DSQ, it was again a sporting if not successful day in the North Sea.

More pictures after the results.

Today’s winner was Ian (IanPixel Resident), with Red (RedHeadJo Resident) second, and Rugger (Ruggeromare Resident) in third place. Congratulations to all of you. Thank you to everyone who came to sail and spectate.

Race Notes:

Rugger (Ruggeromare Resident), Siri (Sirius Rosca) and Sasha (Sasha714) all finished tied with 9 points. As they all have duplicate finishes, Rule A8.2 of Guidance on Scoring under Appendix A to the Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:

If a tie still remains between two or more boats, they shall be ranked in order of their scores in the last race. Any remaining ties shall be broken by using the tied boats’ scores in the next-to-last race and so on until all ties are broken. These scores shall be used even if some of them are excluded scores.

Skipper Race 1 Race 2
Rugger 6 3
Sirius 5 4
Sasha 4 5

In the last race, Rugger breaks the tie with Sirius and Sasha with his third place finish over Sirius’ fourth place and Sasha’s fifth place finishes.

Max (Maximiliano Szondi) and Julie (JulieRoyale Resident) both finished tied with 14 points. Rule A8.1 of Guidance on Scoring under Appendix A to the Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:

If there is a series score tie between two or more boats, each boat’s race scores shall be listed in order of best to worst, and at the first point(s) where there is a difference the tie shall be broken in favour of the boat(s) with the best score(s). No excluded scores shall be used.

Skipper Best Finish Next Best Finish
Max 6 8
Julie 7 7

With the race results rearranged in best to worst finish order, per A8.1, the tie breaks in Max’s favor with having a sixth place finish over Julie’s seventh place finish as her best.
