Smooth sim sailing weather with a great spectator turnout highlighted this weeks Cat Fight in the North Sea. The regions of the North Sea and Fruit Islands were well behaved as no DNFs (Did Not Finish) were recorded on the day. The nice size crowds, gathered on the small racing dock and still under-remodel Poseidon Centre Spectator Pier, both in the Eden Lapwing region, were treated to some great racing from this weeks frisky fleet-foiled feline fleet. This weeks fleet, sailing on the North Sea Outer Inner Loop (OIL) and North Sea Copacabana courses, was comprised of a majority of six The Mesh Shop Flying Shadows, two crewed and four single-handed respectively. One lone Wildwind AC-62 made up the remainder of this weeks fleet.

Race Director: Cryptic
Wind: SW (225°) 18kts

Note:
Did Not Finish (DNF) = number of finish +1
Did Not Start (DNS) = number of start +1

Today’s winner was Rayz (Rayzza Rubble), with Daenerys (blondij Resident) second, and Isa (isab DeCuir) in third place. Congratulations to all of you. Thank you to everyone who came to sail and spectate.

Race Notes:
Rayz (Rayzza Rubble), Daenerys (blondij Resident), and Isa (isab DeCuir) all finished tied with 4 points. Rule A8.1 of Guidance on Scoring under Appendix A to the Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:

If there is a series score tie between two or more boats, each boat’s race scores shall be listed in order of best to worst, and at the first point(s) where there is a difference the tie shall be broken in favour of the boat(s) with the best score(s). No excluded scores shall be used.

Skipper Best Finish Next Best Finish
Rayzza Rubble 1 3
blondij Resident 1 3
isab DeCuir 2 2

With the race results rearranged in best to worst finish order, per A8.1, the tie breaks in Rayz’s and Daenerys’s favor with having first place finishes over Isa’s second place finish as her best. Subsequently, to break the remaining tie between Rayz and Deanerys, as they both have duplicate finishes, Rule A8.2 of Guidance on Scoring under Appendix A to the Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:

If a tie still remains between two or more boats, they shall be ranked in order of their scores in the last race. Any remaining ties shall be broken by using the tied boats’ scores in the next-to-last race and so on until all ties are broken. These scores shall be used even if some of them are excluded scores.

Skipper Race 1 Race 2
Rayzza Rubble 3 1
blondij Resident 1 3

In the last race, Rayz breaks the tie with Daenerys with his first place finish over Daenerys’s third place finish.
