This weeks North Sea Open Regatta featured more smooth sailing sim weather and some spirited racing. As I was unavailable due to real life circumstances, Daenerys directed this week in my absence. Here are Daenerys’s words about both races.

In the first race, after a good start, Lalia took the lead, with Bianca on her back till the halfway part of the race. Bianca then took the lead from Lalia. It was a smooth race. After a good start of the second race, Nihiwatu took the lead with her Wildwind AC-62. The Wildwind Open 60s stayed together but Moon sadly crashed. Before Moon’s crash, he was in a spirited battle with Julie.

This weeks small boat fleet, sailing on the North Sea Manta Reverse course, was comprised of a majority of five The Mesh Shop (TMS) Flying Shadows, all single-handed. One TMS Star Class, one Shields Class, one Bandit IF, one Bandit 25r, and one TMS Nacra 17 made up the remainder of the small boat fleet. Meanwhile, the big boat fleet, sailing on the North Sea WC Reach 1 course, was comprised of a majority of five Wildwind Open 60s. One TMS One Design 65, and one Wildwind AC-62 made up the remainder of the big boat fleet.

Today’s winner was Isa (isab DeCuir), with Lalia (LaliaCasau Resident) second, and Julie (JulieRoyale Resident) in third place. Congratulations to all of you. Thank you to everyone who came to sail and spectate.

Race Notes:
ViV (vivipezz Resident) and Laured (laured Cabassoun) both finished tied with 11 points. Rule A8.1 of Guidance on Scoring under Appendix A to the Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:

If there is a series score tie between two or more boats, each boat’s race scores shall be listed in order of best to worst, and at the first point(s) where there is a difference the tie shall be broken in favour of the boat(s) with the best score(s). No excluded scores shall be used.

Skipper Best Finish Next Best Finish
vivipezz Resident 3 8
laured Cabassoun 4 7

With the race results rearranged in best to worst finish order, per A8.1, the tie breaks in ViV’s favor with having a third place finish over Laured’s fourth place finish as her best.
