The Backwater Bay Yacht Club IF Star 25R Regatta saw the sailing week get off to a trouble free start. The regions in Bingo Strait appear to have had a restful weekend as they behaved well resulting in no DNFs (Did Not Finish) on the day. Spectators enjoyed the crash free sailing showcase from the frontage pier of the Villa in the Twice Bitten region, and the committee boat dock in the Woodfall region. This weeks fleet, sailing on the BBYC 05 course and BBYC Olympic Race Course (Long), was evenly mixed between two The Mesh Shop (TMS) Star Class, two Bandit IFs, and two Bandit 25Rs.

The fleet gets under way during the first race of the the Backwater Bay Yacht Club IF Star 25R Regatta on Monday, March 18th, 2019.

Today’s winner was Moon (moonglownight Resident), with Daenerys (blondij Resident) second, and Red (RedHeadJO Resident) in third place. Congratulations to all of you. Thank you to everyone who came to sail and spectate.

Race Notes:
Daenerys (blondij Resident) and Red (RedHeadJO Resident) both finished tied with 5 points. Rule A8.1 of Guidance on Scoring under Appendix A to the Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:

If there is a series score tie between two or more boats, each boat’s race scores shall be listed in order of best to worst, and at the first point(s) where there is a difference the tie shall be broken in favour of the boat(s) with the best score(s). No excluded scores shall be used.

Skipper Best Finish Next Best Finish
blondij Resident 1 4
RedHeadJO Resident 2 3

With the race results rearranged in best to worst finish order, per A8.1, the tie breaks in Daenerys’s favor with having a first place finish over Red’s second place finish as her best.
