Smoother sailing sim weather featured during this weeks Backwater Bay Yacht Club IF Star 25R Regatta. The regions in Bingo Strait settled down this week, after two previous weeks of stormy sim sailing weather with only one DNF (Did Not Finish) on the day due to region crossings (the skippers connection was acting up as well). The regatta’s courses were also planned to avoid the Farragut region, which is still in a bad state of affairs and has had several trouble tickets submitted to LL over it’s condition. The other DNF on the day was due to the physical world grabbing Moon mid-race during the second race. This weeks fleet, racing on the BBYC 03 and BBYC Up And Down courses, was comprised of a majority of four Bandit IFs. One lone Bandit 25r made up the remainder of the fleet.

Did Not Finish (DNF) = number of finish +1
Did Not Start (DNS) = number of start +1
Today’s winner was Daenerys (blondij Resident), with Moon (moonglownight Resident) second, and Nikki (Nikki Lacrima) in third place. Congratulations to all of you. Thank you to everyone who came to sail and spectate.
Race Notes:
Moon (moonglownight Resident) and Nikki (Nikki Lacrima) both finished tied with 5 points. Rule A8.1 of Guidance on Scoring under Appendix A to the Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:
“If there is a series score tie between two or more boats, each boat’s race scores shall be listed in order of best to worst, and at the first point(s) where there is a difference the tie shall be broken in favour of the boat(s) with the best score(s). No excluded scores shall be used.“
Skipper | Best Finish | Next Best Finish |
moonglownight Resident | 1 | 4 |
Nikki Lacrima | 2 | 3 |
With the race results rearranged in best to worst finish order, per A8.1, the tie breaks in Moon’s favor with having a first place finish over Nikki’s second place finish as her best.
