Calm sailing region weather and a nice fleet turnout featured during this weeks Backwater Bay Yacht Club Cat Fight. The regions of Bingo Strait behaved well, giving us calm sailing weather as only one DNF (Did Not Finish) was a result of a skipper crashing. Daenerys’s Flying Shadow zoomed off to the east, past the yellow mark in the Muta region, as she disconnected from a crash resulting in the scripts in her catamaran throwing errors on her return and a DNF. The other two DNFs on the day, both accredited to Riz, were due to incorrect courses loaded into his Ultimate Sailor Buddy HUD (USB) resulting in him pulling his boat in both races. This weeks fleet, racing on BBYC Olympic Course (Long) and the BBYC W1 course, was comprised entirely of six The Mesh Shop (TMS) Flying Shadows in race one, with Riz opting to switch out his Flying Shadow for his TMS Nacra 17, in race two.

Note:
Did Not Finish (DNF) = number of finish +1
Did Not Start (DNS) = number of start +1
Today’s winner was Moon (moonglownight Resident), with Isa (isab DeCuir) second, and Daenerys (blondij Resident) in third place. Congratulations to all of you. Thank you to everyone who came to sail and spectate.
Race Notes:
Daenerys (blondij Resident) and Rayz (Rayzza Rubble) both finished tied with 7 points. Rule A8.1 of Guidance on Scoring under Appendix A to the Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:
“If there is a series score tie between two or more boats, each boat’s race scores shall be listed in order of best to worst, and at the first point(s) where there is a difference the tie shall be broken in favour of the boat(s) with the best score(s). No excluded scores shall be used.“
Skipper | Best Finish | Next Best Finish |
blondij Resident | 2 | 5 |
Rayzza Rubble | 3 | 4 |
With the race results rearranged in best to worst finish order, per A8.1, the tie breaks in Daenerys’s favor with having a second place finish over Rayz’s third place finish as his best.
