A great fleet turnout with temperamental sailing weather featured during this weeks Backwater Bay Yacht Club Open Regatta. Fleet turnout was wonderful as thirteen small boats participated during the small boat portion and ten big boats participated in the big portion of the regatta. Likewise, spectators continued the recent trend of packing the committee boat dock in the Woodfall region and the waterfront of the villa in the Twice Bitten region. Bingo Strait sailing weather started off well but took a down turn during the big boat portion as five DNFs (Did Not Finish) were claimed due to crashes.
Both fleets this week, featured a wide variety of boat models with no clear majority in either fleet. This weeks small boat fleet, sailing on the BBYC 03 course, was comprised of three Bandit IFs, three Bandit 25Rs, three The Mesh Shop (TMS) Nacra 17s, three TMS Flying Shadows, and one lone TMS Star Class. Meanwhile, the big boat fleet, sailing on the BBYC 06 course, was comprised of two Wildwind AC45s, two Wildwind Open 60s, two TMS Volvo Open 70s, two TMS Ushuaias and one lone Bandit 50R.

Skipper | Best Finish | Next Best Finish |
RedHeadJO Resident | 3 | 11 |
