Smooth sailing weather and a great fleet turnout highlighted this weeks Backwater Bay Yacht Club IF Star 25R Regatta. The Bingo Strait area continued it’s streak of great sailing weather with no DNFs (Did Not Finish) or crashes recorded on the day for the regatta. Spectators once again crowded the viewing area in the Twice Bitten region, while the committee boat dock in the Woodfall region was equally as packed. This weeks fleet was comprised of a majority of seven The Mesh Shop (TMS) Star Class. Two Bandit 25Rs, and one Bandit IF made up the remainder of the fleet.

The fleet gets underway during the first race of the Backwater Bay Yacht Club IF Star 25R Regatta on Monday, September 17th, 2018.

Race Notes:
Ultra (ultramantra Resident) and Laured (laured Cabassoun) both finished tied with 12 points. Rule A8.1 of Guidance on Scoring under Appendix A to the Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:
“If there is a series score tie between two or more boats, each boat’s race scores shall be listed in order of best to worst, and at the first point(s) where there is a difference the tie shall be broken in favour of the boat(s) with the best score(s). No excluded scores shall be used.“
Skipper | Best Finish | Next Best Finish |
ultramantra Resident | 3 | 9 |
laured Cabassoun | 5 | 7 |
With the race results rearranged in best to worst finish order, per A8.1, the tie breaks in Ultra’s favor with having a third place finish over Laured’s fifth place finish as her best.
