Great sailing weather and a nice turnout featured during this weeks Backwater Bay Yacht Club IF Star 25R regatta. Bingo Strait was well behaved again as region crossings were smooth and no DNFs (Did Not Finish) were claimed due to region behavior. However, Moon, who had the only DNF on the day, disconnected in the middle of the de Grasse region and did not log back in for the rest of the regatta. Spectator turnout was nice with crowds gathered at the spectator areas in the Twice Bitten and Woodfall regions as well as on the small committee boat dock. Race turn out was nice as well as this weeks fleet, racing on the BBYC Lightouse and BBYC 09 Rev 1 courses, was comprised of a majority of five The Mesh Shop (TMS) Star Class. Two Bandit 25Rs made up the remainder of this weeks fleet.

The fleet gets under way on the BBYC 09 Rev 1 course during the second race of the Backwater Bay Yacht Club IF Star 25R Regatta on Monday, September 10th, 2018.

Today’s winner was ViV (vivipezz Resident), with Ian (IanPixel Resident) second, and Jackson (Jacquimo Resident) in third place. Congratulations to all of you. Thank you to everyone who came to sail and spectate.

Race Notes:
Jackson (Jacquimo Resident) and Astrid (AstridNewBonham Resident) both finished tied with 8 points. Rule A8.1 of Guidance on Scoring under Appendix A to the Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:

If there is a series score tie between two or more boats, each boat’s race scores shall be listed in order of best to worst, and at the first point(s) where there is a difference the tie shall be broken in favour of the boat(s) with the best score(s). No excluded scores shall be used.

Skipper Best Finish Next Best Finish
Jacquimo Resident 3 5
AstridNewBonham Resident 4 4

With the race results rearranged in best to worst finish order, per A8.1, the tie breaks in Jackson’s favor with having a third place finish over Astrid’s fourth place finish as her best.
