Our monthly There and Back Again was on the plate for this weeks North Sea Bandit Regatta. The regions behaved well for both courses, North Sea Breadnut to Eden Auk and North Sea Eden Auk to Breadnut, as not a single DNF was recorded. Spectators came out to watch our monthly cross estate romp as both docks in the Genip and Eden Puffin regions were packed as well as Lighthouse Isle in the Ziziphus Region and the lighthouse in the corner of the Eden Godwit region. This weeks fleet featured an even mix of four Bandit IFs and four Bandit 25s. Our newest race director, Daenerys, was also lead race director of the Bandit Regatta for the first of many times to come.

Race Director: Daenerys

Today’s winner was Blair (Blair Karas), with Ultra (ultramantra Resident) second, and Victor (vsemionov Resident) in third place. Congratulations to all of you. Thank you to everyone who came to sail and spectate and to SLCG for helping with race duties.

Race Notes:
Victor (vsemionov Resident), Jackson (Jacquimo Resident), and Astrid (AstridNewBonham Resident) all finished tied with 10 points. Rule A8.1 of Guidance on Scoring under Appendix A to the Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:

If there is a series score tie between two or more boats, each boat’s race scores shall be listed in order of best to worst, and at the first point(s) where there is a difference the tie shall be broken in favour of the boat(s) with the best score(s). No excluded scores shall be used.

Skipper Best Finish Next Best Finish
vsemionov Resident 3 7
Jacquimo Resident 4 6
AstridNewBonham Resident 5 5

With the race results rearranged in best to worst finish order, per A8.1, the tie breaks in Victor’s favor with having a third place finish over Jackson’s fourth place finish and Astrid’s fifth as their best. Subsequently, the tie further breaks in Jackson’s favor as his fourth place best finish is better than Astrid’s fifth place best finish.
