Bandit Regatta – October 2017 Results

This starts another batch of abridged racing results updates to bring the site up to date.
In this update, the entirety of the Bandit Regatta results for October 2017.

October 2nd, 2017

Today’s winner was Daenerys (blondij Resident), with Ultra (ultramantra Resident) second, and Red (RedHeadJO Resident) in third place. Congratulations to all of you. Thank you to everyone who came to sail and spectate and the SLCG for helping with race duties.

Race Notes:
Jackson (Jacquimo Resident) and Neil (eager2discover Resident) both finished tied with 8 points. Rule A8.1 of Guidance on Scoring under Appendix A to the Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:

If there is a series score tie between two or more boats, each boat’s race scores shall be listed in order of best to worst, and at the first point(s) where there is a difference the tie shall be broken in favour of the boat(s) with the best score(s). No excluded scores shall be used.

With the race results rearranged in best to worst finish order, per A8.1, the tie breaks in Jackson’s favor with having a second place finish over Neil’s fourth place finish as his best.


Gryfin (Gryfin Goldshark), Rossa (rossamare Resident), and SOH (sohaidan Resident) all finished tied with 15 points. Rule A8.1 of Guidance on Scoring under Appendix A to the Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:

If there is a series score tie between two or more boats, each boat’s race scores shall be listed in order of best to worst, and at the first point(s) where there is a difference the tie shall be broken in favour of the boat(s) with the best score(s). No excluded scores shall be used.

With the race results rearranged in best to worst finish order, per A8.1, the tie breaks in Gryfin’s favor with having a fifth place finish over Rossa’s sixth place finish and SOH’s seventh place finish as their best. Subsequently, Rossa’s sixth place finish also breaks the secondary tie in her favor over SOH with his seventh place finish as his best.

Jackson (Jacquimo Resident) and Moon (moonglownight Resident) finished tied with 13 points. As they both have duplicate finishes, Rule A8.2 of Guidance on Scoring under Appendix A to the Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:

If a tie still remains between two or more boats, they shall be ranked in order of their scores in the last race. Any remaining ties shall be broken by using the tied boats’ scores in the next-to-last race and so on until all ties are broken. These scores shall be used even if some of them are excluded scores.

With the race results rearranged in best to worst finish order, per A8.1, the tie breaks in Bianca’s favor with having a first place finish over Neil’s third place finish, Red’s fourth place finish, and Moon’s fifth place finish as their best. Subsequently, Neil’s third place finish breaks the remaining tie with Red and Moon, as well as Red’s fourth place finish breaking her remaining tie with Moon’s fifth place finis being his best.


Carlota (Carlota Dufaux) and Helena (Helena Carstensz) both finished tied with 24 points. However, as they both finished with identical finishes in each race (a DNF, and DNS respectively), neither rule A8.1 or rule A8.2 will satisfy breaking their tie so they remained tied in thriteenth place.
