This weeks US holiday edition of the North Sea Bandit Regatta so a nice turnout with, great racing, and nice sim weather. It was US Independence Day and our fleet surely packed some fireworks. The sims were behaving with no crashes. Our only DNF was due to first time North Sea racer Achilles bowing out of the first race early. This weeks fleet was made up of a majority of Bandit IF’s with 5. A Bandit 55, Bandit 60, and Bandit 25 made up the remainder.
The first race, on the North Sea Olympic Long course, saw some really exciting racing between Angelic, in her Bandit IF and Stu, in his Bandit 60, as they both chased after Alexandre, with Natalie as crew. Alexandre got out to a bit of an early lead over Angelic and Stu, that he never relinquished. Rosie, in her Bandit 25, was actually at the head of the fleet and took line honors.
The second race, on the North See Short Loop course with 3 laps, saw more of the same exciting racing between Angelic, Alexandre and Stu. Angelic wound up passing Stu on the first lap and never looked back. Rosie once again took line honors, in her speedy Bandit 25.

Today’s winner was Winner1, with winner2 second, and winner3 in third place. Congratulations to all of you. Thank you to everyone who came to sail and spectate and to the SLCG for helping with race duties.
Race Note:
Red and Rosie both finished tied with 8 points. Rule A8.1 of Guidance on Scoring under Appendix A to the Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:
“If there is a series score tie between two or more boats, each boat’s race scores shall be listed in order of best to worst, and at the first point(s) where there is a difference the tie shall be broken in favour of the boat(s) with the best score(s). No excluded scores shall be used.“

With the race results rearranged in best to worst finish order, per A8.1, the tie breaks in Red’s favor with having a third place finish over Rosie’s fourth place finish as his best.
Jackson and Carmen finished tied with 13 points. As they both have duplicate finishes, Rule A8.2 of Guidance on Scoring under Appendix A to the Rules of Sailing is used to break this tie:
“If a tie still remains between two or more boats, they shall be ranked in order of their scores in the last race. Any remaining ties shall be broken by using the tied boats’ scores in the next-to-last race and so on until all ties are broken. These scores shall be used even if some of them are excluded scores.“

In the last race, Jackson breaks the tie with Carmen with his sixth place finish over Carmen’s seventh point placing.

North Sea Racing
